Kaylee Bear Koss is an artist, writer and musician who has worked with community-based non-profit organisations and arts projects in several different countries over the past fifteen years. Kay arrived in Ireland from Tucson, Arizona in 2004 to complete an MFA in Virtual Realities at NCAD, exhibiting and working from Dublin until 2014, founding Moxie Studios [mox.ie] in 2005, The Independent Museum of Contemporary Arts [www.imoca.ie] in 2007, and Steambox Studios & Galleries in 2012. [www.steambox.imoca.ie]. Currently Kay is pursuing a PhD in Spain and has expanded the gallery network with STANDARD Galería y Estudios.
Kay is the songwriter, lead singer and guitarist of Stunt Lover, which played at Fringe Festival, Electric Picnic, Life Festival, and in Spain, France, Italy and Austria. Their album Aldona’s Daughter is available for streaming or download here.
Kay is openly transgender and uses her audiovisual art practices to explore what that means personally, as well as in relationship to other people and a greater socio-cultural context. Her work also investigates challenges to binary systems and the increasing intimacy between biological and technological systems.
